MCCS Tuition Assistance Program
Employment with MCCS Miramar comes with a wide range of benefits, but did you know that MCCS can also help you reach your educational or professional learning goals? Employees approved for Tuition Assistance can be reimbursed up to $3,000 each fiscal year (February 1 – January 31).
What can this money be used for?
- Courses approved by an accredited or nationally recognized institution
- Courses within a degree program (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate level)
- Job-specific certifications
- Certifications to become eligible for an advancement or other MCCS position
- Continuing education courses related to the employee’s field of work
Employees working toward a degree at any level can request TA for their field of choice, regardless of if it relates to their current MCCS employment. For example, a Recreation Attendant at the gym can apply for reimbursement for courses as part of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
Employees working on professional certifications or continuing education courses can apply for reimbursement if they relate to their current position with MCCS or to become eligible to another MCCS position. For example, a Recreation Attendant at the gym may apply for reimbursement for an IT certification if they are in the process of applying for a job in our MIS department.
The Tuition Assistance program provides reimbursement for tuition, registration fees, course related lab fees, and books; however, it does not reimburse expenses for housing, student parking, sales tax, or health and application fees.
This benefit is available to full-time, part-time, and flexible employees who average at least 25 hours a week, have been with MCCS Miramar for 12 months, and is subject to supervisor approval and future work obligation.
