Congratulations, It’s A…Baby Shower!

Today, New Parent Support hosted a baby shower for expectant and new parents. The event featured delicious food, fun games, and valuable resources to support growing families.

Attendees enjoyed activities and connected with representatives from various MCCS programs, including Child and Youth Programs, the Community Counseling Program, and Information, Referral, and Relocation. These resources provided essential information and support, helping parents feel more prepared and confident.

During the event, representatives from New Parent Support detailed their program and services. The New Parent Support Program (NPSP) is a professional team of social workers and nurses offering education, counseling, and support to expectant parents, adoptive parents, and families with children five and under. NPSP helps families cope with stress, isolation, post-deployment reunions, and the everyday demands of parenthood through home visits and other services.

A Marine shared his firsthand experience, discussing how he and his wife have adjusted as first-time parents and how NPSP has been a game changer for their family. He highlighted the support and resources they received, emphasizing the positive impact on their journey into parenthood.

The event wrapped up with a hilarious game of Musical Chairs with a twist for the new dads and dads-to-be. Each time the music stopped; participants had to complete a parenting-related task before grabbing a chair. The grand finale had everyone laughing as the dads raced to change a diaper.

Raffles were held throughout the event, and everyone left a winner, taking home a bag filled with baby gifts. It was a fun and memorable way to end a great celebration!
